The exceptional fire resistance of YTONG comes from its behaviour in contact with flames. The physical properties of this material make it the ideal formula for fire protection: YTONG is non flammable and incombustible. Its reaction to fire is nil. It makes no contribution to combustion. YTONG is a thermal insulant (due to its cellular structure). YTONG does not release harmful (toxic) gases or vapors in the event of fire. YTONG is insensitive to the influence of temperature: the material structure does not change; the material does not deform, so that flames or smoke cannot propagate and no openings that might let in fresh oxygen appear. In addition, YTONG is a natural insulator: in the event of fire, there is no risk of the emission of toxic fumes due to the presence of synthetic insulation. Excellent fire resistanceA.A.C. provides the highest security against fire and meets the most stringent fire safety requirements. Due to its purely mineral composition, YTONG is classified as a non-combustible building material. It is both resistant to fire up to 1200oC and, unlike other construction materials, heat-resistant.
Small wonder, then, that YTONG is used in fire safety tests as a building material to measure the fire resistance properties of other construction products, or that some insurance companies offer reductions in fire premiums for buildings equipped with YTONG fire walls.

YTONG blocks meet with the appropriate sizing the requirements of all fire resistance classes of F 30 to F 180.
